⚖️Landlord Sues Former Tenant Over Unpaid Rent And Property Damage

In a contentious courtroom case on Judge Judy, Robert, the plaintiff and landlord, is suing his former tenant, Tracy, the defendant, for unpaid rent and for allegedly contributing to the diminished value of his property.Robert claimed that Tracy had failed to pay rent for the last several months of her lease and that the condition of the home upon her departure had caused a significant decrease in its value, requiring costly repairs.

Tracy denied the allegations, arguing that she had paid the rent she owed and that any damage to the property was normal wear and tear.

Robert took the stand first, explaining that Tracy had been renting his home under a standard lease agreement, but over the course of the last several months, she stopped making rent payments.

He claimed that despite numerous attempts to resolve the issue, Tracy had failed to pay her rent and eventually left the property without fulfilling her financial obligations.

Additionally, Robert argued that the condition of the property had deteriorated significantly during Tracy’s tenancy, with evidence of broken fixtures, damaged walls, and stains on the carpets, which he claimed diminished the home’s value.

He presented photographs and repair estimates to substantiate his claims of property damage.

Robert argued that the unpaid rent, combined with the damage to the property, had left him financially burdened and caused a decrease in the home’s marketability. He requested compensation for both the back rent owed and the cost of repairs needed to restore the house to its original condition.
